This paper begins with a short reference to the issue of child abuse. It analyses the phenomenon and provides information regarding the ways in which child abuse can harm a child, both physically, mentally and emotionally. Further on, the study takes a closer look at four recorded cases of child abuse. The cases are analysed in a historical manner, mainly focusing on the suffering experienced by the children in each case. The ways in which the local authorities failed to stop these crimes are also stated.
