The paper addresses the issues of human resource (HR) management examining international and domestic HR practices and evaluating the applicability of the USA/UK HRM experiences in continental Western Europe. The challenges of matching HR practices with organizational strategic plans are discussed highlighting the best practice models of HRM and analyzing a resource based company Scania as a role model in HRM strategy.
Conclusion: The purpose of this report was to analyse Scania case study and answer the questions through the usage of the external materials. This report revealed that Scania actually enjoys number of benefits from conducting their environmental activities. They include good reputation of the company, reduction in taxes payable for toxic waste and ability to create innovations and technological changes. Road transport was found to be the most sound, from ecological point of view, form of transport and the advice was given for the governments to increase the price of road transport in order to reduce the pollution. Various stakeholders of Scania were identified, and their powers and interests were assessed. The conclusion was drawn, that Scania needs to satisfy their stakeholders in order to be successful, however the balance between stakeholders' expectations and company's profitability should be found. Several evidences also suggested that Scania is seriously addressing the issues of corporate social responsibility and sustainability towards their stakeholders and general public. Process of innovation and technological change is also important for the truck industry because companies are competing on the basis of innovations and changes according to the demand. Scania is successfully implementing this strategy, preparing the base for the future developments.
