The paper is a presentation of the business portfolio of Somerfield recommending cost effective improvements for their customer services in-stores. The presentation provides an overview of the business, external environment analysis of the business, SWOT analysis of Somerfield and recommendations about the service quality.
This is a comparative performance report between two companies, J Sainsbury plc and Somerfield that are in the same industry. It will assess whether each company complies with the Companies Act 1985 and various other accounting standards. It will also make a financial comparison over the past year from the perspectives of a manager and a lender of which, a number of significant and relevant ratios will be calculated and used. In addition, the report will provide a general overview of any relevant points of interest extracted from the chief executives' reviews and financial reviews and any other relevant matters concerning each company from external sources.
This assignment is an attempt to analyze the performance of Somerfield. The purpose of the work is to find why there is such a difference in the results of the company activity displayed in the Annual Reports. What has happened with Somerfield for the period and what support the stable growth in one year and does not in the others to hold its position as a growing company for a longer time periods. Company data has been analyse by a number of parameters and ratios recommended in the academic literature. Assignment start with company introduction and then move to the overall review of its activity for the last few years to show what has happened for the period. It also analyse solvency, profitability, capital structure and other important indexes of the organization and comparing it year by year. Annual reports of the Somerfield were used as a data source; however, all the calculations were by on the basis of financial models given in literature. The other source of financial data was the IWEB stock broker. On the basis of detailed data analysis conclusions has been drawn. Precise recommendations have also been given in the last section of assignment.
