The study will use a Chinese-based business consultancy as a case study – AC Business Consultant, Shanghai, China. The details and information on objectives, research method and data analysis are also provided.
This reflective statement examined the professional and ethical standards under which management consultants operate, based on the Institute of Management Consultancy's Code of Conduct and Ethical Guidelines. In assessing these standards, the case of an international consultancy firm was drawn upon to highlight the potential controversy between the official professional and ethical standards that are required and the actions of consultancies.
The paper reviews literature on management consultancy (MC) highlighting economic, strategic and structural approaches to MC and touching upon the clients’ criteria for selecting consultants, consultants’ methods of attaining power position, issues of consultant-client relationship, roles of consultants and clients within IT projects, etc.
