The dissertation investigates the effectiveness of plyometric training against resistance training as a method to enhance lower limb power output with regard to kicking, jumping and sprinting in male amateur football players. Literature is reviewed on the effects of both methods of training on vertical jump performance, sprint performance and ball velocity. The methodology includes primary research of experimental groups, i.e. a plyometric training group, a resistance training group, and a control group. Conclusions are made on the basis of quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the study suggesting recommendations for footballers’ training.
