The paper presents a case study of the nursing approaches towards a patient in an orthopaedic ward analysing the process of holistic assessment of the patient’s needs and problems. Psychological, social, biological and patho-physiological approaches to the identified needs are addressed with the focus on the patient’s fear of mobilization and dying.
