The paper examines the hypothesis that pediculosis has a detrimental effect on the cognitive process using rats as models for the human brain to simulate the human neurological response to infestation with lice. The methods and the results of the pilot study are described, conclusions are made about the correlation between louse infestation and the time needed by rats to complete the T-maze.
