This paper examines the prevention of childhood obesity and focuses on nutritional interventions. The paper begins by presenting the background to the study and follows with a review of the studies aims. The aims are as follows identify all relevant literature published in the last five years which demonstrate preventive interventions for childhood obesity, highlight the location/site of these interventions in order to inform future studies (e.g. school based, community based, etc), assess the role of family participation in preventing childhood obesity, and review the effectiveness of such interventions and discuss suitable projects for future research. The methodology the study uses is detailed, and the paper then presents all of the findings. The findings are categorised in relation to school based interventions, home and community based interventions, and clinical health care based interventions.
