This report investigates the grazing pressures in Arnarvatnssel and Sandfell in Iceland between the three different time periods: the 1700's, the present and landnàm. Environmental modelling is used as the research method which enables data on vegetation, livestock and the climate to be simply represented for both locations and between the three different time periods. The environmental model is used for biological, environmental and historical purposes which include epidemiology studies such as disease spreading and immunisation, evolutionary models such as evolutionary stable strategies, and in the case of this report, for a grazing model, which will enable the impacts of grazing on the environment to be examined.
