This paper examines supply chain management, and uses Argos as a case study. The paper begins by identifying the theoretical frameworks and analytical tools that are relevant to supply chain management, namely Porter’s Value Chain analysis, SWOT analysis, Vernon’s product life cycle model, Porter’s competitive advantage model, the just in time theory, MRP, ERP, and the Kanban system. The paper then examines the European Market before and after 1993, through use of the SWOT analysis. The paper examines the pros and cons of the market segregation, as well as the EU Green Policy regulations, treaties and manufacturing processes. The paper examines the present trends in the supply chain and logistics operations in relation to concepts like RFID, Business Process Management, Simulation Modelling (SM), and Business Intelligence (BI). Argos is then examined, and the paper provides information on their background, volume of sales, market share, organisational hierarchal structure, and management challenges.
