The paper addresses the importance of reverse logistics (RL) for retailers demonstrating how RL capabilities can provide cost savings for companies. Literature is reviewed on the concept of RL, RL capabilities, and RL antecedents. Relationships between RL antecedents are examined using primary research via questionnaires to establish the relationship between customer orientation, customer opportunism, resource commitments, contractual agreements, and RL cost savings.
