The dissertation examines the alterations introduced by Dell to the traditional PC supply chain seeking to evaluate their effectiveness. Literature is reviewed on strategic management at Dell, the theory of supply chain management (SCM), system dynamics, the ‘bullwhip effect’ of supply chain lack of synchronization, supply chain features in the PC industry, etc. The research uses system dynamics methodologies including qualitative system dynamics to examine the supply chain strategy at Dell. Conclusions are made about the SCM strategies used by the company that help to minimise the bullwhip effect and allow them to operate in a more effective way.
