The paper looks at the use of road and travel metaphors in the films by Jarmusch, i.e. “Stranger than Paradise”, “Down by Law”, “Broken Flowers”, “Night on Earth”, and “Dead Man”. The genre of the road movie and the theme of the stranger are discussed explaining that travel is related to freedom rather than distance, and focusing on its effects on individuals expressed by cinematic means.
