The paper looks at the theory currently influencing the Hong Kong film genre, and the impact of the choreography of Yuen Woo Ping, whose combination of new techniques with traditional studio work revolutionised the potential for Hong Kong cinema and the kung fu genre. Major reference is made to the influence of Larry and Andy Wachowski in the Matrix Trilogy, which used revolutionary choreography and computer-generation techniques to push the boundaries of visual martial arts and their relationship with new technical capabilities and special effects.
