This proposal is for a study on the way in which the trustworthiness of a source influences the tendency of internet users to pass on viral marketing campaigns. The background to the study is provided, and the paper then presents the research focus. The objectives of the study are to investigate the response and behaviour of customers towards five forms of viral marketing communication, to examine if negative message has greater influence on customers’ perception than positive contents, to discover the influence of viral marketing communication on awareness and product/service purchase.
