The dissertation examines the improvements in passenger security screening that have taken place in airports since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, 2001. The review of literature touches on the counter-terrorism measures taken by the aviation security services and the technology introduced by airports for passenger screening. A study is conducted of the perceptions towards these improvements analysing the primary data obtained from semi-structured interviews with aircraft passengers. Conclusions are made about the effects of the changes in the security screening on airport passengers’ security.
