This paper discusses the world’s tallest buildings and aims to assess the way in which they can improve the economic prospects of a region. The paper uses the Taiwan 101 in Taipei and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and also discusses Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The completion of the projects can be seen as an indicator of the economic conditions of the city as such projects would have been expensive to carry out. The paper also examines the buildings from a reputational view, and discusses the importance of the way in which they are viewed internationally. The paper also discusses the challenges that may occur when building one of the worlds tallest buildings.
