This paper analyses strategic human resource management (SHRM) in order to assess whether it enhances organisational effectiveness. The paper discusses the difference between SHRM and regular human resource management (HRM) before critically analysing the topic with reference to a wide selection of secondary literature. The paper also evaluates three models, hierarchy of strategic decision making model, model of HR-shareholder relationship, and HR value proposition model. Conclusions are made regarding the topic, stating the reasons why SHRM improves organisational effectiveness.
