This dissertation focuses knowledge sharing and aims to examine to what extent it is beneficial for contemporary UK organisations. The objectives of the study are to identify the main theories of knowledge sharing in the organisational context, to find out the effects produced by the three aspects of knowledge sharing (technological knowledge, new knowledge creation and organisational learning) on the UK organisations, and to discover the most effective knowledge management strategies and provide recommendations to the UK companies. The review of literature focuses on a range of topics, some of which include Penrose’s productive opportunity framework, alternative theories of knowledge sharing, and technology related firm specific advantages (FSAs). This is then followed by the methodology which highlights the research strategy, approach, and philosophical stance. The study then presents the findings and analyses them, and conclusions are made regarding recommendations.
