This paper discusses the significance of time for poets, and looks at range of poems to further the discussion. “To His Coy Mistress” by Andrew Marvell, W. B Yeats’ “The Wild Swans at Coole, “Digging” by Seamus Heaney, and “In Memory of W.B Yeats” by W. H Auden. The paper also discusses T. S Eliot’s essay, ‘Tradition and the Individual Talent’, which examines the way in which the poetic voice is related to the past.
