The paper addresses the problem of domestic violence and its psychological and emotional threats to children. A case of a ten-year-old girl is analyzed who witnessed violent behaviour of her stepfather towards her mother. UK and UN legislation and social programmes on children’s protection against maltreatment are reviewed arguing that children are most affected victims of domestic violence.
