This dissertation aims to assess and understand the change process that took place in NGO’s in Hong Kong. This change was a result of the implementation of the new subvention system. The way in which the change process affected the psychological contract between employees and employers. The research objectives are highlighted, and an overview of the dissertation is provided. The literature review focuses on change management, employee resistance, and psychological contracts. The research methodology section discusses the epistemology, and explains why questionnaires and interviews are the main methods of research in the paper. The ethical considerations are detailed through use of the four principles of research ethics by Diener and Crandall.
