The paper looks at the arguments for and against reductionism as a psychological approach that reduces learning behaviours to stimulus-response behaviour. Behaviourism is described as an example of reductionism acknowledging that psychology would never develop into a true science if it continues to oppose reductionism, and stating that at the same time a reductionist explanation of behaviour and cognition fails to explain consciousness and free-will.
