The paper addresses the issue of bullying at school providing the definition of bullying, discussing anti bullying programmes adopted by school communities, and focusing on the nature of peer interventions. The paper argues whether the victims of bullying are less likely to interfere when others are bullied in their presence. An observational study is conducted in four English schools using videotaping equipment and interviews with teachers, parents and children. Conclusions are made about the limitations of the study.
