This dissertation discusses the possibility of North Eastern integration, and focuses on the Peoples Republic of China, Japan, South and North Korea. The dissertation begins by providing the background to the topic, and follows this with an examination of integration and the strategic value of North East Asia. The next chapter discusses the history of cooperation between North East nations in regards to security and culture. The possible future progress is then assessed. The challenges that face the region are then analysed in reference to social, economic, and historical challenges. The relationship between the US and Korea is assessed, and the impact that the US has on this nation is discussed. Conclusions are made regarding whether integration is possible.
