The New Deal was the catchphrase for the amalgamation of monetary, fiscal and regulatory polices pursued and coordinated by the Roosevelt administration in response to The Depression in America in the 1930's. This paper looks at the reasons why historians still cannot agree on whether the policy was a success, and assesses its impact, both good and bad on workers, farmers and US capitalism.
