According to Dicey Parliamentary Sovereignty is ?the dominant characteristic of our political institution.? In England our Parliament is sovereign, this means that they are the ultimate source of power and are legally unlimited. Therefore they can make or unmake any law and can not be challenged by anyone, including the courts. The doctrine of sovereignty is about the relationship between those who create the Acts (parliament) and those who must apply them (courts), this has caused much controversy and consists of differing interpretations. The essay goes on to then examines Dicey's three rules. It looks at Jenning's and Law's response to this.
