This paper discusses Arab family law, focusing on the human rights issues relating to women in Arab countries. The paper also examines any possible developments within these laws. The paper discuses feminist organisations like the Convention of the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Woman (CEDAW). The differences between family and human rights laws afforded to women in Arabic countries are compared to those offered to women in other countries. The paper identifies the change in women’s rights as positive, and suggests ways in which this change can be further improved, such as revisiting the Qu’ran and interpreting it in a more gender equal manner.
