The dissertation addresses the problem of counterfeiting presenting a review of literature on the roots of counterfeit, its effects on economy and trade, the measures used to prevent counterfeit, the issues of intellectual property rights, etc. The paper employs the methods of secondary and primary research based on the case study of economic damages caused by counterfeit in Saudi Arabia (SA) using statistical analysis of the data collected via online questionnaires distributed among SA consumers. Conclusions are made about the growth of the SA counterfeit market recommending improvement of the licensing of production and suggesting relevant legislative measures.
