This proposal is for a study on the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the marine transport sector. The objectives are to determine the current and predicted CO2 emissions in the future from marine transport, to explore the role of marine transport emissions in global climate change at the present and future, to assess the environmental, economic, and social aspects of various types of mitigations, to compare the results and evaluate the most effective mitigation method to lower CO2 emission from marine transport in the future, and to verify the different types of policies in order to promote the adoption of the effective mitigation strategy. The background to the topic is provided in great detail, and the paper highlights the research hypotheses. The methodology and time constraints are also provided.
