The paper examines the problems raised by Robyn Eckersley in her journal article rn“The Big Chill: WTO and Multilateral Environmental Agreements”, reviewing academic research into the conflict of interests between World Trade Organisation (WTO) and multilateral environmental agreements (MEA), and arguing that it is difficult to strike a balance between MEA and WTO trade rules.
