This paper examines the statement “peace cannot be built on humanitarian intervention, which is the language of big powers”. The argument of this paper is that there is an elite self-interest to humanitarian actions and the paper looks at Darfur in relation to Mamdani’s theories. Humanitarian intervention is looked at as an extension of war ideologues, and the paper then looks at the poststructural approach to humanitarian intervention.
