Reasons for the demise of both the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty are compared. Rome's weak rulers led to their loss of power and land, while the corrupt rulers of the Han led them to lose their grip on what was traditionally thought of as the “Mandate of Heaven.” However both had their own demographic and economic problems which can be seen as contributing to their downfall.
