The paper examines the rise of African cinema portraying traditional views of the African races that stem from the colonial period. The work of film maker Ousmane Semb?ne is considered describing the features of the Nationalist Cinema in the post-colonial world, the influences of Hollywood and Bollywood, the phenomenon of Third Cinema in Africa, etc. It is argued whether Third Cinema is a nationalist portrayal of anti colonialism and the fight against Eurocentric views and Americanization.
