The dissertation investigates teaching strategies and practices used to support pupils who present social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) in UK schools. Literature is reviewed on the definitions of SEBD and special educational needs (SEN) learners, teaching strategies used towards SEBD children within the mainstream education, etc. The methodology of the research is based on secondary data and primary data obtained from a case study of SEBD issues in a Cumbrian primary school using questionnaires and an interview with the assistant head teacher. Conclusions are made about the efficiency of the reward and motivational strategies used towards SEBD pupils.
