This dissertation focuses on the gifted and talented policy at schools, and aims to assess how well two schools embedded the policy. The objectives of the study are to establish what effective gifted and talented provisions are, to identify and assess the methods of teaching for gifted and talented pupils and comment on how effective they are in improving the pupil experience, and to determine the views of pupils and to establish their needs and how both schools could satisfy those needs. The review of literature discusses a variety of topics, some of which include pupil engagement, the background to the gifted and talented programme, and multi-modal learning. The paper then identifies aspects of the methodology, including an examination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, the chosen methods of research, and data collection. This is then followed by a discussion of the findings, and conclusions are made regarding the strengths and limitations of the study, as well as the recommendations for the schools analysed.
