This is a 9300-word dissertation and a 1700-word proposal on the issues Primary Modern Foreign Language (PMFL) learning aimed to examine the effects of a cross-curricular approach on pupils' vocabulary acquisition and attitudes towards language learning. The review of literature touches on the importance and the history of PMFL learning in the UK and the problems surrounding PMFL teaching and learning. An earlier exposure to PMFL learning is considered. Qualitative research is employed using secondary data and the primary data collected from interviews and informal discussions with pupils and teachers. Conclusions are made about the effectiveness of cross-curricular teaching of PMFL in comparison to the traditional discrete approach.
