Discussions are based around defining the idea of assessment, the objectives of the course, and the background to the test taker. The paper then goes into great detail regarding the pedagogic rationale discussing the reasons behind assessment, and the different types of assessment. These include formative and summative assessment, WBLA, and the shift from paper and pencil (P&P) test to computer based tests (CBT). The advantages and disadvantages of WBLA are provided, and student’s attitudes to the system are evaluated. The future of WBLA is examined, and the way in which it can be improved is examined.
