This paper examines the concept of stress in the workplace, and aims to identify the main causes for its occurrence. Issues like work overload, role conflict, lack of control, new technology, personality clashes, and shift work are all evaluated as possible causes of stress in the workplace. The different forms of interventions available to reduce stress are examined, namely secondary and tertiary which involve stress management. The paper also examines EPA programmes before conclusions are made.
