This paper is based on the current appraisal process at Orwell Housing Association in Ipswich and aims to assess what impact it has on employee performance. The study aims to examine current models of appraisal processes and systems and outline key theories related to the appraisal processes and systems based on the current literature, to understand how the Orwell Housing Association practices its appraisal process versus those recommended in current literature, and to assess the impact and influence of the current Orwell Housing Association appraisal process on staff performance. The review of literature examines a range of subjects including the history of appraisal processes, types of appraisal systems, and current issues when using appraisal systems. The research methodology is then detailed, and the paper outlines the findings from the primary data collection method used. The findings are then analysed and discussed before conclusions are made.
