The dissertation addresses the issues of HRM investigating the effects of flexible working practices on the organisational commitment and employee motivation within the company. Literature is reviewed on the theory and practices of flexible working and work-life balance discussing the working patterns of flexitime, time off in lieu, staggered hours, etc. The nature of organisational commitment and employee motivation is discussed with reference to motivation theories. The researcher uses interpretivist epistemology analysing secondary and primary data collected via interviews with managers and from questionnaires distributed among employees. Analysis is based on the combination of qualitative methods and quantitative methods of descriptive and inferential statistics. Conclusions are made about the importance of flexible working arrangements for employee motivation and commitment.
