The dissertation examines the relationship between reward strategies, employee motivation and employee retention in UK healthcare organisations conducting a case study of University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL). Literature is reviewed on the theories of pay and reward, motivation theories, and the links between reward and motivation. The methods of the research include analysis of secondary data and primary data collected from interviews with UHL employees to establish whether their reward system is able to retain the staff and keep them motivated. Conclusions are made about the influence of UHL reward strategies on motivation and retention of their employees. Recommendations are suggested to HR and reward managers of UHL.
