This dissertation aims to assess the way in which employees in the hospitality sector feel about their jobs. The study begins by providing the background to a range of topics including gendered labour markets, transient workforces, labour cost, casualisation, and the involvement of unions. The research questions are ‘What perceptions do hospitality workers have about their job’? ‘What are the components behind this perception’? ‘Do HRM practises influence the perception’? The review of literature discusses topics like human resources and the hotel industry, service standard, recruitment, job rotation, reward systems, and new approaches to HRM in the UK hotel industry. The research methodology is outlined in great detail, and the study uses questionnaires and surveys to collect data. All of the results are analysed, and the study concludes with recommendations.
