The dissertation investigates international HRM policies of Toyota with regard to their increasing tendency towards innovation. Literature is reviewed on the nature of innovation and its impact on organisations, the features of incremental innovation, the types and sources of innovation, etc. The research uses an interpretive approach to the analysis of secondary and primary data collected from a questionnaire and an in-depth interview aimed to identify the relationship between people management and innovation development. Conclusions are made about the specific methodology applied by Toyota to ensure continuous improvement of their performance, comparisons are drawn between innovation-related HRM policies of Toyota and those of Western companies.
