The dissertation examines the concept of psychological contract and its dependence on the economic and financial situation in the employment market. Literature is reviewed on the theory of psychological contract, the factors that influence psychological contract between employees and employers, possible benefits of maintaining psychological contract for both employees and employers, implications of the breach of contract, features of psychological contract during economic recession, etc. A case study of psychological contract between employees and employers is conducted using the example of the UK company Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS). The case study employs the methods of primary research via a survey conducted among TFS staff. Conclusions are made about the dimensions of psychological contract and its link with job security levels during recession.
