The dissertation investigates the drivers of human resource (HR) outsourcing in financial institutions. The review of literature touches on the theory of human resource management (HRM) explaining the difference between ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ HRM, the value of the resource-based view (RBV) theory for modern businesses, the components of HRM, the need for HR outsourcing in UK financial organisations, etc. Research methods are based on secondary data obtained from academic and commercial sources and case studies of HR outsourcing practices in UBS and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).
