The dissertation addresses the issues associated with redundancy programs examining their planning, implementation and effects on employees. Literature is reviewed on the challenges of redundancy planning and implementation, support needed by employees to boost their morale, effects of redundancy on survivors, etc. The methodology of the research includes primary data collected from interviews with employees of different demographic groups. Conclusions are made about the effectiveness of practices aimed at dealing with redundancy and ‘survivor syndrome’. Recommendations are suggested about factors that need to be taken into account while implementing redundancy.
