The dissertation examines the causes of high rates in the turnover of employees at the Dartford site of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc (TFS), a UK provider of laboratory and software equipment, in the context of the current recession in the UK. The review of literature touches on the theory of employee turnover, motivation theory, psychological contract, job satisfactions, etc. The methodology of the research includes analysis of secondary data and primary data obtained from questionnaires distributed among a selection of TFS employees. Conclusions are made about the factors that were contributing to the high rates of employee turnover at TFS suggesting recommendations to human resource managers of the company.
