This work looks at the constraints faced by two countries in seeking to achieve sustainable tourism. During the last decade, the notion of sustainable tourism development has become the focus of attention. It has now achieved as an objective of tourism development policy and practice and many organisations representing destinations or tourism industry sectors have published sustainable tourism development plans and sets of principles. On the other hand, the concept of sustainable tourism development remains the subject of dynamic debate. Some of the key tasks answered within this work are to compare how two developing countries from two different continents seek to achieve sustainable tourism. There is a discussion on the theories behind sustainable tourism and how they are linked to the issues that currently affects the tourism industry in Turkey and Cuba.
