This paper critically evaluates the Copenhagen synthesis report (CSR) on Earth System Governance (ESG). The report aims to summarise key evidence that supports the need for Earth System Governance in CSR, to Identify key evidence for ESG from the presentations in the Congress, to research the need for ESG from other reliable sources, to analyse and evaluate the accuracy of information on ESG in CSR, and to compare the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2007 report with CSR on meeting the challenge of climate change with ESG. Conclusions are made regarding the content and importance of the report, and the paper offers recommendations for improvement of the report.
